Former New York Giants LB Antonio Pierce is bitter and he’s directed his ire towards Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. Pierce went so far as to say that the head coach is “on the hot seat” after the Giants finished 8-8 in 2009.

During an interview on the NFL Network, Pierce said, ” He’s on the hot seat. I think everyone in the organization is on the hot seat. You are talking about a team three years removed from the Super Bowl. There are some fires lit underneath people’s butts now in that locker room and in that organization. Everyone is on high alert. It’s going to be a very interesting 2010 season.”

Pierce claims that disgruntled players and key injuries helped to key the Giants collapse last season.

[picappgallerysingle id="7848709"]Pierce suffered a herniated disc in his neck midway through the 2009 season. The 10 year veteran linebacker spent 5 of his years with the Giants after coming over from the Washington Redskins. During his career, Pierce recorded 687 tackles, 9 sacks, 7 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles.

Lost in the interview with NFL Network, was the fact that Pierce stated that his injury would require surgery and that instead of opting for surgery, he simply plans to retire.

New York Giants football fans, Gov. Chris Christie is claiming your team. A Super Bowl and the economic impact associated with it makes people do crazy things, especially politicians.

At last week’s press conference after the 2014 Super Bowl was awarded to the New Meadowlands Stadium, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stood up and proclaimed the award is a win for New Jersey.

“I look to where that stadium is, and that’s New Jersey. When everyone gets on a train, or in their car, or on the buses, they’re going to be coming to that game in New Jersey.”
