Jeff Pearlman of SI.com wrote a column yesterday posing the question of former New York Giants RB Tiki Barber making a comeback. Pearlman’s column is side splitting funny, and Jeff if you’re reading, the new HD monitors are actually moisture resistant. You’ve got to check this one out.

Tiki certainly has dug quite the hole for himself. He left football while he was still a productive back and left 1 year before he could have gotten a Super Bowl ring. It was all down hill from there. NBC saw fit to put him on television and while he wasn’t quite as bad as Emmitt Smith, he was still painful to watch. As his television career continued to slide into near oblivion Barber should have been paying a bit more attention to his home life instead of mentoring his intern.

So now Tiki is dealing with the screwing he’s getting for the screwing he got.

Chad Jones in NYC

The New York Giants arranged a flight from New Orleans to New York for S Chad Jones yesterday. The NY Post reports that Jones might require plastic surgery as well as additional orthopedic procedures.

A Giants spokesman told the media, “Chad has received outstanding medical care from the doctors and nurses in New Orleans since the accident. They’ve shown great compassion. After consulting with our doctors, Chad’s doctors at LSU and his family felt like this move to New York was the next logical step in his care and recovery”.

Giants waive Davis

The New York Giants yesterday waived KR/WR Chris Davis. Davis was claimed off waivers last week but failed his physical with the team. Davis was thought to be a possible replacement for Domenik Hixon who suffered a season ending ACL injury.

Davis was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans and was waived last week by the Cincinnati Bengals before the Giants plucked him off waivers.

Giants Jones possible for 2011?

New York Giants draft selection Chad Jones underwent 8 hours of surgery Friday and it early reports are that Jones might be cleared to play football in 2011. That’s great news as reports on Friday stated that Jones might be in a critical situation. However, someone in Jones family or Jones himself should tell his agent Rocky Arceneaux to shut the hell up.

Arceneaux has told members of the media that Jones might opt to play baseball instead of football due to the severity of his injury. Jone’s agent should be telling members of the media that he’s in my prayers, our thoughts, my thoughts are with Chad and his family, not laying out possible baseball plans in regards to a person who quite possibly could have lost a limb not 72 hours ago.

The New York Giants 2010 draft pick has been reported to have been involved in a serious car accident. The third round selection had already inked a contract worth over 2 million dollars in base salary. WWL-TV has reported that Jones lost control of his SUV and crashed into a streetcar pole.

WWL reported that Jones had suffered a fractured leg and arteries and nerves were exposed. Jone’s agent asked for prayers for Chad Jones.

Barber Busted?

The good times just keep on rolling for former New York Giants RB Tiki Barber. Barber, who left his wife while she was pregnant with twins for a much younger woman, is now in divorce court with his ex.

Barber now claims that his ex-wife wants 150,000.00 a month in alimony and he just doesn’t have it. According to the New York Post, a close friend of Barber claims, “Ginny wants 150,000 per month from him in alimony. In due time, if Tiki were dumb enough to give her that amount, he’d be broke.”

I’m not quite sure what Tiki’s doing now for work as he was released from the Today show. He should never have been hired for the Today show, he was a horrible reporter. The Post reported that Barber’s gig was paying him 300,000 a year.

Maybe Tiki could call Tiger for some legal advice. If you want to play Tiki, you’ve gotta pay.

Giants Turf War

Last week at the New York Giants first ever practice at the New Meadowlands Stadium, they lost WR Domenik Hixon for the season with a torn ACL.

Giants S Antrel Rolle thinks the new FieldTurf surface caused the injury. Rolle told ESPN, “I was right there when it happened and I saw it right away. And I was like, ‘Damn, it don’t look good’ He didn’t make a cut or anything. It just got caught in the turf.”

Giants GM Jerry Reese said that he didn’t believe the surface caused the injury.

However, Reese might have wanted to phone the Minnesota Vikings front office first. Minnesota is replacing their FieldTurf this season and filed documents in court that claim “an NFL study that found the rate of ACL injuries is 88% higher in games played on FieldTurf than in games played on grass.”

While some Giants players seem to have issues with the surface, Jets players don’t seem to have any problems. Mark Sanchez told ESPN he likes the surface. “The turf is great. I didn’t have any slippage.”

I tend to agree with Rolle. I don’t like the artificial surface. I understand that domed stadiums need to use something, but I firmly believe that all open stadiums should have a natural grass surface. Grass allows a natural shock absorber and just as people who supported a Super Bowl in the Meadowlands stated that football is meant to be played outside in the elements, I believe outdoor stadiums should have natural surfaces to play on.

Christie is a Cowboy!

New York Giants fans, the Governor of New Jersey is a Dallas Cowboy fan. Gov. Chris Christie isn’t making many friends in his homestate but now he won’t have many fiends in surrounding states as well. Speaking to the Philadelphia Daily News Christie said, “Listen, I grew up in the early 1970s and became a huge Roger Staubach fan. Believe me, it doesn’t get me anything political around here because the Giants fans hate me, the Eagles fans hate me, it doesn’t matter. But you grow up rooting for a team. That’s just the way it works.”

I’m sure if the governor decides to attend the Giants game when the Cowboys visit the Meadowlands, many Giants fans will be willing to show Christie he’s number 1.

New Stadium claims first victim

The New York Giants have a big new stadium to play in, but if the first practice is any indication, they might want to play somewhere else. In the Giants first practice at the New Meadowlands Stadium, WR/KR Domenik Hixon was thought to have simply tweeked his knee but upon further examination, it was determined that Hixon tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

Hixon only accounted for 15 receptions last year as the Giants fourth receiver but Hixons value to the Giants is in the return game.  While returning punts and kickoffs last season, Hixon accounted for 1547 total yards and a score.

Hixons’ best receiving year for the Giants came in 2008 when he recorded 43 catches for 596 yards and two touchdowns.

Adultery Pays

The New York Giants and Jets are looking for a corporate sponsor of the New Meadowlands Stadium. Well, one company has stepped forward, AshleyMadison.com. TMZ.com is reporting that the online dating site which promotes adultery has offered up 25 million dollars for the name rights.

TMZ has obtained a letter from Ashley Madison’s founder Noel Biderman sent to the CEO of the New Meadowlands Stadium. Biderman also claims that they would be willing to match any other offers for the naming rights.

My take on this is AshleyMadison is just getting some free publicity, after all at the height of the Tiger Woods sex scandal, they offered money to Woods to become a spokeman for the company’s website.
